Workshop Overview
Many students believe that Confirmation is like a Catholic graduation or a public acceptance of the Catholic Faith, but this is not true! Instead Confirmation builds upon the grace we are given at Baptism and instills in us the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In this webinar, we’ll explore what Confirmation is and what it isn’t, and model teaching strategies that are proven to engage students and help them fully understand all that God offers in the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Master Teacher Jose Gonzalez leads a 45-minute session, offering Catholic school teachers and parish catechists with a ready-to-use lesson plan based on the popular Sophia SketchPad Confirmation video, as well as the chance to explore ideas about this important topic with your colleagues around the country.
You will receive:
SketchPad Video Viewing Guide: Perfect for Catholic schools, parish religious education classes, and homeschooling parents, this guide includes pre-viewing activities, post-viewing discussion questions, and a fill-in-the-blank activity for your students to complete when watching the video a second time.
Video Script: Allows your visual learners to read along and/or refer back to the script while completing the viewer’s guide.
Backgound Reading: Short essay on Confirmation to increase background knowledge of this Sacrament.
Complete Lesson on Confirmation: Students will deepen their understanding Confirmation.
Recorded Webinar: Join master teacher Jose Gonzalez to learn simple but effective techniques for explaining and engaging your students with Confirmation.
Professional Development Certificate: You may request your professional development certificate by visiting this link.

Sophia Institute for Teachers is an independent, non-profit organization. Participants at our programs receive certificates stating the number of hours at each workshop and as proof of attendance. Each diocese will determine if/how these hours can be applied toward on-going teacher or catechist certification requirements. If you need official verification that attendance at our program will satisfy your requirements, please check with your principal and/or the appropriate person in your diocese.
