Virtual Workshop

All Catechists, DRE's and CRE's from the Diocese of Covington, KY are invited to join us for an interactive virtual Workshop focusing on proclaiming the key themes of the Gospel message to your students in order to help them become better Disciples of Christ. You will also get an opportunity to look at ways to make the most of your new Spirit of Truth series, as well as get an opportunity to share best practices with your fellow catechists, and engage in both formal and informal discussions.

Jose Gonzalez joined the team at Sophia Institute for Teachers in 2014 after more than 10 years as a Catholic high school teacher. In addition to teaching Jose has experience working in parish and diocesan ministry.  Jose has led over 250 of our workshops in over 45 dioceses, and contributes regularly to our teacher's guides and digital instructional resources. He has a BA in theology with a concentration in religious education from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and an MA in evangelization and catechesis from the Augustine Institute. Jose and his wife, Mary Beth, have four children.


Carrie Soucy is an Educator Support Specialist for Sophia Institute for Teachers. Before coming to work at Sophia Institute, Carrie spent the last 20 years working as a youth minister and director of faith formation in the parish setting. In addition, she has spent all of her adult life in one way or another as a catechist, retreat facilitator, youth advisor and music minister. She has a passion for helping those who serve as catechetical leaders and volunteers. Carrie lives in Nashua, NH with Mike, her husband of almost 30 years. She is also the proud mother of one grown son, Jonah, who himself is a youth minister in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, PA.
