This month’s Heavenly Hall of Fame focuses on St. John Paul II and his 2002 Message of the Holy Father to the Youth of the World at World Youth Day. His message to young people that year was that they should take seriously the call to be “salt of the earth” and “light of the world.” Indeed, this call is as important today as it was 12 years ago, and as it was when Jesus first spoke the words to us in the Sermon on the Mount.
Younger learners complete a chart examining what they know about "Salt" and "Light." Why does Jesus ask us to be like these things? Older students read the address independently and respond to discussion questions. All ages can complete an optional saint research assignment.
